San Diego Aztecs!

DSC00750

Both boys ended up as Aztecs in their age divisions.  They each had a great season!

Now, what to do with the extra 15 hours a week until soccer starts?

Katie, Katie, Katie!

The last couple weeks of school were all about Katie.

DSC00775

First, she was a semi-finalist in a national writing contest on youth violence.  Over 1700 students in Clark County entered and she was one of 22 finalists honored at a special ceremony.  She didn’t move on to compete in the finals in Washington D.C. (it’s hard to compete with kids who have actually experienced youth violence!), but she did win an i-pod!

Second, she was invited to Awards Night at school.  She won an award for outstanding participation in English.

Third, she was inducted in to the National Junior Honor Society.

Paul and I did our best to embarrass her by attending each function, taking pictures, and talking to her in public.

Love this age! (The Tooth Fairy left him a half-dollar made of silver.  The new ones are only coated with silver.)

I’m a Fanilow

manilow

I dragged Paul to see Barry Manilow on Friday night.  I loved it!   My favorite parts of the show:

1. They gave out glow sticks on the way in.

2. Ladies (and one man) kept rushing  the stage dancing      and singing, trying to touch Barry.

3. He sang all three songs I knew and a bunch more!

4.  He invited the audience to sing along during “I Write the Songs.”

You can’t see Barry, but look at all the crazy women (and one man)!

Did you know he wrote the jingles for State Farm and Band-Aid?
